There was a time when green programs at schools were limited to throwing paper in a blue box and apple cores into a compost bin.

It’s evolved since then, in particular at Stratford District secondary school. Today, personal protective equipment is being collected to be recycled into construction materials, and food waste and paper are fed to a “cow composter,” which churns it into soil for the school’s vegetable gardens.
